How to Protect Tutes and Class Recordings from Being Shared
By NEXTGEN EDUPRO Team · · 6 min read
A tute set or a recorded paper discussion can take a teacher weeks to prepare. Once it lands in a Telegram group, it is gone. No method makes sharing impossible, but several together make it rare and traceable.
Watermark every copy with the student’s identity
A visible watermark showing the student’s name or ID on each PDF page and over the video player is the strongest deterrent. Students are far less likely to forward something that names them. If a copy does leak, you know whose account it came from.
Allow one active session per account
Password sharing is the quiet leak: one paid account watched by five friends. Limiting each account to one active session, so a new login signs out the old one, ends most of it without affecting genuine students.
Keep live classes inside your platform
Sharing a raw Zoom link in a WhatsApp group lets anyone join. Launching the class from inside the LMS, only for enrolled and paid students, keeps the link private and the attendance accurate.
Track printed tute delivery
For printed tutes, record which student received which tute and when. It stops double handovers, and you can see who is still waiting before the next paper class.
Be clear with students
State your sharing rule in the first class and in your terms. Most leaks come from students who did not think of it as harm. A clear rule plus a visible watermark changes that.
NEXTGEN EDUPRO’s LMS and digital tutes module includes watermarking, single-session logins, an embedded live classroom and tute delivery tracking.
